Progressive legislation is the lifeblood of Michigan credit unions. MACU recognizes this by placing an emphasis on legislative efforts. MACU retains a     full-time lobbyist to represent credit union interests at the State Capitol and at the national level in Washington D.C. We are also a vocal advocate of credit unions in Washington, D.C. We maintain direct contact with OFIR and the NCUA, proposing revision and updating of regulations. We have found that this procedure is the most cost efficient and result producing method of regulatory input. MACU presently holds two seats on OFIR’s Credit Union Advisory Group, which addresses current trends, regulatory issues and policies. MACU’s bi-partisan political action committee, MAC/PAC, assists candidates in statewide races who support the credit union movement.
